The difference between lead-free soldering station and lead soldering station

In fact, the main difference is the welding temperature. Lead free tin wire requires a higher welding temperature, usually around 250 degrees, while ordinary tin wire requires a welding temperature of 180 degrees. Therefore, the welding temperature of lead-free soldering stations is higher, and the heating speed of lead-free soldering stations is faster. Of course, there are exceptions. In lead-free solder, there are also low-temperature solder with a melting point lower than that of lead solder. But the price of this low-temperature solder is quite expensive.

In theory, lead solder joints can also be soldered using lead-free soldering stations, as the temperature of the lead-free soldering station can reach the melting point of lead solder. But in reality, no one uses it this way, because once lead solder is used to solder on a lead-free soldering station, the lead-free soldering station becomes contaminated and can no longer produce lead-free environmentally friendly products. On the other hand, it is not possible to solder lead-free solder with a lead soldering station because the temperature of the lead soldering station may not reach the melting temperature of lead-free solder.
